How do I decide on a menu for my event?
Our catering menu is the best place to start, which you can find on our web site. Our menu includes the latest food and drink offerings and combinations, as well as prices. Once you've looked over our menu, please contact us by phone, email or our catering contact form to discuss your event. We're happy to address any questions you may have or advise you on your specific catering needs.
Why does your menu change so often?
Sugarsnap strives to provide a balance between customer favorites that are predictably available and seasonal dishes that showcase regional foods. We encourage you to ask our Catering Managers for suggestions of dishes that are coming directly from our farm and other local farms, so that you can join us in building a stronger, healthier regional food system.
Does Sugarsnap offer custom menus?
We occasionally offer custom menus at the discretion of Sugarsnap's Kitchen and Catering teams. When we do provide custom menus, we typically require several weeks of advance notice. Please contact us as soon as possible if you have custom catering needs.
Does Sugarsnap offer full-service catering?
We do offer full-service catering. Please contact us for more information.
Can I pick up my catering order at either Sugarsnap location?
Sugarsnap's production kitchen and catering operation is located at our Technology Park in South Burlington. Orders can be picked up there during normal hours - 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday - or as arranged with a Sugarsnap Catering Manager. Orders may be picked up at Sugarsnap on Riverside between 11:00am and 2:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Can you help with food allergies/dietary restrictions?
We are happy to work with food allergies and dietary restrictions. Please be as specific as you can regarding your needs so that we can address them safely and properly.
Can you recommend a venue for my event?
Sugarsnap has catered events in locations throughout Chittenden County, including a number of venues that are available for meetings, conferences and events. We’ve listed some of those venues on our web site, along with contact information for your convenience.
ORDERING
How early do I need to contact you prior to my event?
As soon as you know you need it! Although we require at least two business days (48 hours) notice, some days do get booked in advance of that. It is to your benefit to let us know about your catering needs sooner rather than later. There is no "too early" for us!
What information should I have available when contacting Sugarsnap Catering?
The more details you have regarding your event the better. At a minimum, we will need your contact information and the date, time, location and size of your event. We can then focus on your menu and catering service requirements. You can provide most of this information online using our catering contact form or just give us a call at (802) 861-2951.
Why do you require two business days (48 hours) notice?
Sugarsnap's commitment to customer service is our motivation. Making fresh, healthy and delicious food requires planning to ensure we have the quality and quantity of ingredients, as well as kitchen staffing. Catering orders needed within two business days (48 hours) often require that we "take food away" from our retail customers to satisfy those orders. All of our customers are equally important, which is why we require at least two business days (48 hours) to ensure everyone gets the food they need.
Do I need to sign a contract?
For large and full service catering events, we generally ask that you sign a contract and place a deposit so that we can "save the date" for you.
Can I change my order once it is placed?
We are usually able to accommodate changes, e.g., menu changes, headcount, etc., that are made at least two business days before the event. Please let us know when scheduling your event if you anticipate making changes as your event nears. Please note that we consider all orders final two business days before the scheduled event date and can not commit to making any changes to an event after this time.
FEES & PAYMENT
Can you provide me with a written quote or a bill in advance?
Sure. It is very easy for us to email that information to you.
How do I pay for my order?
We require a credit card to guarantee all orders (we accept all major credit cards). Please let us know if you'd like to pay by other means, otherwise, we'll have your credit card receipt ready when we deliver or you pick up your catering order. We will not charge your credit card until the day of your event. Established corporate/institutional customers receive an invoice for submission at the time of delivery or pick-up.
Do you require a deposit?
We require deposits for larger events, which guarantees the calendar date for your event and locks in quoted pricing, since our menu changes on a regular basis.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Catering orders canceled less than two full days before the scheduled event date will be charged a maximum of 50% of the total invoice. Orders that are canceled less than one full day before the scheduled event date will be charged a maximum of 80% of the total invoice. Orders that are canceled the day of the scheduled event will be charged a maximum of 100% of the total invoice. These charges are to cover foods that cannot be used, labor, rental goods, and jobs we may have declined in order to accommodate your event. The determination of which level of charges will be at the discretion of Sugarsnap Catering.
Is a gratuity automatically added to my order?
We do not automatically add gratuities to catering orders. We are often asked if tipping is customary, to which we respond that some customers do and others don't. All gratuities are shared among the Sugarsnap team that helped prepare and deliver your order.
